Guided Meditation
Meditation is a practice where an individual uses a technique – such as mindfulness, or focusing the mind on a particular object, thought, or activity – to train attention and awareness, and achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm and stable state.
Dictionaries give both the original Latin meaning of "think[ing] deeply about (something)"; as well as the popular usage of "focusing one's mind for a period of time", "the act of giving your attention to only one thing, either as a religious activity or as a way of becoming calm and relaxed"] and "to engage in mental exercise (such as concentrating on one's breathing or repetition of a mantra) for the purpose of reaching a heightened level of spiritual awareness.
My interest in meditation drew from an understanding of human anatomy and physiology whereby the body can only heal from a state of relaxation. During an Osteopathic treatment our goal is to balance the skeletal, ligamentous, muscular and nervous systems as well as aid optimal blood and lymphatic flow. This allows the body to self-heal, self-regulate and self-correct. Using meditation as a tool to allow this natural state of healing and balance seemed appealing to me.
Embarking on a discipline of daily meditation has allowed me to heal several chronic health conditions, to further fine tune my intuition skills, to calm my extremely active mind and to gain a greater sense of calm, ease and trust. I am a better human and I believe a better practitioner for this daily discipline.
I was so inspired that I undertook training to become a Meditation and Mindfulness teacher to share this gift of Meditation with my patients friends and family. I hope you enjoy these guided Meditations and inspire you to greater health, healing and wellness.
